Prior to any decorative floor installation we assess the surface to determine what type of conditions exist keeping in mind the end result desired for your particular project. Based on the surface conditions, we then identify the ideal surface preparation methods. Once we have determined the preparation methods, a test patch may be performed to confirm the selection.

More About Surface Preparation
D&T Polishing will ensure your surfaces are carefully and correctly prepared for all work before we begin.
The shot blasting process strips, cleans and profiles the surface simultaneously while eliminating drying time. It removes contamination and strips coatings (such as carpet/tile glue) to make the surface ideal for your new flooring system. Shot blasting is environmentally friendly as it is connected to a dust collection system which renders the process virtually dust-free.
Another form of surface preparation we use is diamond grinding which leaves a smooth and clean concrete surface. This process also removes coatings or adhesive that may have been left by carpet or tile glue. We use diamond grinders with horizontally rotating disks to level, smooth and clean your concrete surface. This process aids in smoothing the concrete surface and removing surface imperfections.
While concrete cracks appear to be typical, it is not recommended that they remain ignored. Most homeowners best identify concrete cracks in their basement, either on the foundation wall or on the floor. They may also recognize cracks on the garage floor, patio or in-ground pool.
Poured foundation cracks may be repaired by using low-pressure injection of an epoxy or polyurethane foam material. For the repair of concrete floor cracks certain epoxies and polyurea materials exist, that are suitable for such repairs.
The repair of concrete cracks in either the foundation or the slab may efficiently and effectively be completed in as little as an hour or more.
